Understanding formic acid dehydrogenation at palladium–support interfaces

A study involving group members examines palladium supported on biomass-modified carbon nitride and its role in formic acid dehydrogenation.

Research question

Formic acid can release hydrogen through catalytic dehydrogenation. A study involving group members examines palladium on biomass-modified, defect-rich carbon nitride, connecting metal chemical states and interfacial interactions with this reaction.

The work combines in situ infrared spectroscopy and theoretical calculations to examine adsorbed formate intermediates and their subsequent conversion. It contributes to understanding the role of metal–support interfaces in hydrogen release. School research report
