王鹏 is an associate professor at the School of Material Science and Chemical Engineering, Xuzhou University of Technology. He holds a PhD in Engineering in Industrial Catalysis from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He joined Xuzhou University of Technology in September 2016, where his research and teaching focus on catalytic materials and energy chemistry.
Research interests
His research addresses catalysis in energy chemistry and environmental applications, with three main areas of interest:
- Catalytic carbon conversion: CO and CO₂ conversion, including catalytic materials and active-site design for ethanol synthesis and lower-alcohol production from biomass-derived syngas.
- Photocatalysis and environmental applications: photocatalytic degradation and environmental applications of functional materials, with related work on bifunctional nanomaterials for antireflection and self-cleaning.
- Hydrogen storage and use: hydrogen storage and utilisation, and catalytic materials for efficient hydrogen–carbon conversion.
He has contributed to the school's Hydrogen–Carbon Integrated Energy Industrial Technology Innovation Centre and to the application and development of the Jiangsu university key laboratory under construction for functional materials used in the production, storage and utilisation of industrial by-product hydrogen. He leads the research direction in catalysis for efficient hydrogen–carbon conversion and participates as a core member of the university's New Energy Materials and Catalysis research team.

Teaching, course development and student supervision
His teaching has covered 13 courses, including Principles of Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Chemical Engineering Design and Industrial Catalysis. His Introduction to Chemical Engineering course received a university excellent-course designation. He completed two university educational-research projects and published four educational-research papers. His teaching uses flipped classrooms, Chaoxing Learning and Rain Classroom, with exploration of AI-assisted approaches.
